"Pāṇḍu was always devoted to dharma. He always behaved respectfully towards his relatives, and especially towards me.
"पांडु हमेशा धर्म के प्रति समर्पित थे। वह हमेशा अपने रिश्तेदारों और विशेषकर मेरे प्रति सम्मानपूर्वक व्यवहार करते थे।
I never knew him to care for food and other objects of pleasure. He was rigid in his vows and gave me everything, including the kingdom.
मैं कभी नहीं जानता था कि वह भोजन और सुख की अन्य वस्तुओं की परवाह करता था। वह अपनी प्रतिज्ञा में दृढ़ था और उसने मुझे राज्य सहित सब कुछ दे दिया।
Pāṇḍu's son is as devoted to dharma as he was. He has all the qualities, is famous in the worlds and is extremely respected by the citizens.
पाण्डु पुत्र भी धर्म के प्रति उतने ही समर्पित थे। वह सभी गुणों से युक्त है, लोक में प्रसिद्ध है और नागरिकों द्वारा अत्यंत आदरणीय है।

How can we forcibly exile him, especially since he has allies, from the kingdom of his father and grandfather?

Pāṇḍu always took care of his advisers and his soldiers, especially their sons and grandsons.

ते पुरा सत्कृतास्तात पाण्डुना पौरवा जनाः कथं युधिष्ठिरस्यार्थे न नो हन्युः सबान्धवान्
O son! Earlier, Pāṇḍu always took good care of the citizens of the city. For Yudhiṣṭhira's sake, why should they not kill us and our relatives?"
हे वत्स पहले पाण्डु सदैव नगर के नागरिकों का अच्छा ख्याल रखते थे। युधिष्ठिर की खातिर, उन्हें हमें और हमारे रिश्तेदारों को क्यों नहीं मारना चाहिए?"
Duryodhana replied: "O father! I have thought about that danger also and have weighed it against the evil that will befall us. We must placate the people by offering them wealth and honour.
दुर्योधन ने उत्तर दिया: "हे पिता! मैंने उस खतरे के बारे में भी सोचा है और उस बुराई के बारे में सोचा है जो हम पर पड़ेगी। हमें लोगों को धन और सम्मान देकर उन्हें संतुष्ट करना चाहिए।"
They will then certainly side with us. O lord of the earth! The advisers and the treasury are now under our control.
तब वे निश्चित रूप से हमारा साथ देंगे।' हे पृथ्वी के स्वामी! सलाहकार और राजकोष अब हमारे नियंत्रण में हैं।

स भवान्पाण्डवानाशु विवासयितुमर्हति मृदुनैवाभ्युपायेन नगरं वारणावतम्
Therefore, use some gentle means to remove the Pāṇḍava-s to the city of Vāraṇāvata.
इसलिए, पांडवों को वारणावत शहर में ले जाने के लिए कुछ सौम्य साधनों का उपयोग करें।
O king! O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! When I am firmly installed as king, Kuntī and her sons can always return."

Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: "O Duryodhana! The same thought has arisen in my mind too. But I could not reveal it because it was evil.

न च भीष्मो न च द्रोणो न क्षत्ता न च गौतमः विवास्यमानान्कौन्तेयाननुमंस्यन्ति कर्हिचित्
Bhīṣma or Droṇa or kshatta or Gautama will never approve the banishment of Kuntī's sons.
भीष्म या द्रोण या क्षत्रिय या गौतम कुंती के पुत्रों के निर्वासन को कभी स्वीकार नहीं करेंगे।

समा हि कौरवेयाणां वयमेते च पुत्रक नैते विषममिच्छेयुर्धर्मयुक्ता मनस्विनः
O son! In their eyes, we and the Pāṇḍava-s are equals. Those wise and virtuous men will not tolerate any differentiation.
हे वत्स उनकी नजर में हम और पांडव बराबर हैं। वे बुद्धिमान और सदाचारी व्यक्ति किसी भी प्रकार का भेदभाव बर्दाश्त नहीं करेंगे।

ते वयं कौरवेयाणामेतेषां च महात्मनाम् कथं न वध्यतां तात गच्छेम जगतस्तथा
O son! Why should we not deserve death from the descendants of the Kuru lineage, those greatsouled ones and even inhabitants of the entire world?"
हे वत्स हमें कुरु वंश के वंशजों, उन महान आत्माओं वाले लोगों और यहां तक कि पूरे विश्व के निवासियों से मृत्यु के पात्र क्यों नहीं होना चाहिए?"
Duryodhana said: "Bhīṣma will always be neutral. Droṇa's son is on my side There is no doubt that Droṇa will be on the side that his son is on.
दुर्योधन ने कहा: "भीष्म हमेशा तटस्थ रहेंगे। द्रोण का पुत्र मेरे पक्ष में है। इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि द्रोण उस पक्ष में होंगे जिसका उनका पुत्र है।"

कृपः शारद्वतश्चैव यत एते त्रयस्ततः द्रोणं च भागिनेयं च न स त्यक्ष्यति कर्हिचित्
There is no doubt that Śaradvat's son, Kṛpa, will be on the side where those three can be. He will never forsake Droṇa and his sister's son.
इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि शरद्वात के पुत्र, कृपा, उस पक्ष में होंगे जहां वे तीन हो सकते हैं। वह द्रोण तथा अपनी बहन के पुत्र को कभी नहीं त्यागेगा।

क्षत्तार्थबद्धस्त्वस्माकं प्रच्छन्नं तु यतः परे न चैकः स समर्थोऽस्मान्पाण्डवार्थे प्रबाधितुम्
Though he secretly sides with others, kshatta's survival is linked to us. Even if he opposes us for the sake of the Pāṇḍava-s, he will be able to do no harm.
हालाँकि वह गुप्त रूप से दूसरों का पक्ष लेता है, लेकिन अक्षत का अस्तित्व हमसे जुड़ा हुआ है। यदि वह पांडवों के लिए हमारा विरोध भी करेगा तो भी वह कुछ नहीं बिगाड़ पाएगा।

Without any fear, banish Pāṇḍu's sons and their mother to Vāraṇāvata. Do it today and evil will not result.
बिना किसी भय के पाण्डु के पुत्रों और उनकी माता को वारणावत निर्वासित कर दो। इसे आज ही करें और बुरा परिणाम नहीं होगा।
Through this act, take away the terrible spike that is in my heart and the fire that burns me with grief and robs me of my sleep."
इस कृत्य के माध्यम से, मेरे दिल में मौजूद भयानक कील और उस आग को दूर करो जो मुझे दुःख से जलाती है और मेरी नींद छीन लेती है।"
